Resolve Quickbooks Error -6000, -107 When Opening A Company File
If you are trying to open your company file
and you suddenly get a -6000, -107 error in quickbooks. This error is usually followed
by 3 or 4 more digits and a message indicating that you are unable to open the company
file.

If
you still experience the issue after using the tool, perform the following
solutions in the order appeared.
The QuickBooks Error - 6000 can happen on both local and network arrangement. Select the
appropriate arrangement from the following options and perform the recommended
steps.
You
are opening the file locally
This
means you are opening a file that is saved on the same computer where
QuickBooks is installed.
Solution
1: Rename the .ND and .TLG files
The
.ND and .TLG files are part of your QuickBooks files. These are configuration
files that allow QuickBooks to access a company file in a network or multi-user
environment.
If
these files are corrupted or damaged, you will encounter these errors when you
open your QuickBooks files. Renaming these files will not cause you to lose
QuickBooks data. These files are automatically re-created when you rescan using
the QuickBooks Database Server Manager and when you open your company file.
1. Open the folder that contains your company
file.
2. Find the files with the same file name as
your company files yet with extensions .ND and .TLG.
- company_file.qbw.nd
3. Right-click each file and select Rename.
Add the word OLD at the end of each file name.Example: company_file.qbw.nd.OLD
4. Open QuickBooks again and attempt to sign
in to your company file. If the same issue occurs, proceed to solution 2.
Solution
2: Open a sample company file
By
opening a sample company file, you are testing if the issue possibly lies with
your company file or the QuickBooks application. If a sample company file
doesn't open and instead restores an error, it is an indication that the
QuickBooks installation is damaged and ought to be repaired.
1. In the No Company Open window, select Open
a Sample File and choose any from the list of sample company files.
2. If the sample file opens, proceed to
solution 3. If the sample file restores the same error message, repair your
QuickBooks installation files.

3: Copy the QuickBooks file on the Desktop

copying the file on the desktop and opening it, you are testing if there is an

5. Click Open or restore an existing company.

4: Restore a backup
Since
the company file did not open in any event, when it was moved to a different
location, you can restore a backup copy of your company file to check if the
issue is with the current company file (.QBW).
If
you experience an error while restoring the backup, follow these steps:
1. Check that your computer is not hosting.
a. Open the company file.
b. From the File menu, choose Utilities.
c. If Stop Hosting Multi-User Access is
listed:
i. Select the Stop Hosting Multi-User
Access.
ii. In the Stop hosting multi-user access
window, select Yes.
iii. In the Company file must be closed window,
click Yes.
2. Make sure the path to your company file is
no more than 210 characters in length.
a. Go to the location of your company file.
b. Copy the path from the address bar at the
top.
c. Paste it on your notepad and count the
character including the spaces.For example: C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Sample Company Files\QuickBooks
2018\Sample_company_file.qbw is 125 characters.
3. Retry restoring the company file.
4. If the error persists, proceed to solution

5: Use ADR to restore your backup
If
the company file is damaged, it is recommended to recover lost data with
QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery.
You
are opening the file over the network
This
means you are opening the company file saved on the server or another computer.
Solution
1: Check if Hosting is turned on, on all workstation
It
is recommended to have one PC/Server to have the company files.
1. Press F2. The Product Information window
opens.
2. Find Local Server Information. Hosting
ought to be killed.

You'll be asked to install QuickBooks on your server if it isn't already
installed.
3. Inside the QuickBooks Database Server
Manager, Select Start Scan if you see your company file(s). If you don't,
Browse to the location of your company file and then select Start Scan.
4. Open QuickBooks again and attempt to sign
in to your company file. If the same issue occurs, proceed to solution 3.

(QBW32.EXE, qbupdate.exe, and QBDBMgr.exe), then select End Task.
5. Open the company file in multi-user mode.
6. If the error still appears, proceed to solution

6: Check the folder permission manually
You
may encounter these errors if the folder where the file is saved doesn't have
the right permission. Check your folder permissions to share company files.
Attempt to open your file again. If you are still getting the same error,
proceed to solution 7.

7: Configure firewall ports and Anti-Virus Software
You
may also encounter errors if your firewall and anti-virus program block access
to specific QuickBooks programs or files. It is ideal to configure your
firewall ports and to set up an exception to your anti-virus software.
Note: Since anti-virus programs are not
provided by Intuit, we cannot provide specific steps on the best way to set up
this exception. For help with this process, check with your anti-virus
developer/vendor.
