How to turn on progress invoicing?
Follow these steps to turn on progress invoicing:
• Select Sales from the left menu and then click on Progress Invoicing.
• Select the edit (pencil) icon in the Progress Invoicing section
• Select the Create multiple partial invoices from a single estimate box to enable Progress Invoicing
• Click on Save and then selectdone.
How to create a progress invoice?
You can use three methods to create a progress invoice.
Option 1
• Click on the Plus (+) icon present on the Toolbar and then click on Estimate.
• Enter the information and click on Save.
• Click on Create Invoice. (Please Note: If the estimate is in Pending or Accepted status then only this option will be available.)
• Select how much you want to invoice.
1. Remaining/Total of all estimate lines: every line in the invoice is shown at 100% of the estimate or the remaining balance of the estimate.
2. Percentage of each line: Every line is invoiced at a % of the estimate. You can make changes in the line amounts or percent.
3. Custom amount for each line: Every line in the invoice is shown at 0% but you can make changes in each line.
• Click on Create invoice.
• You can enter the desired amount or percentage of each line under the DUE column if you choose Custom amount for each line
• In progress invoice QuickBooks Online, enter the custom amount
• Click on Save.
Option 2: From the invoice
• Click on the Plus icon (+) present under the Toolbar.
• Select Invoice.
• Enter the name of the customer. There will be a small arrow beside the Balance Due if a prior estimate has been created.
• Amount that is still due in progress invoice QuickBooks Online
• Click on Add all (to add all estimates to the invoice) or Add (if you want to choose a specific estimate to the invoice).
• Now, you have to choose how much you want to invoice:
1. Remaining/Total of all estimate lines: every line in the invoice is shown at 100% of the estimate or the remaining balance of the estimate.
2. Percentage of each line: Every line is invoiced at a % of the estimate. You can make changes in the line amounts, or percent.
3. The custom amount for each line: Every line in the invoice is shown at 0% but you can make changes in each line.
• (This step is Optional) For each line, choose Custom amount for each line and then click on Copy to invoice.
• Enter your preferred amount or percentage under the Due column and then click on Save.
Note:
1. Amount invoiced and the remaining amount for a line item, to show the estimate linked and click on the link icon on each line.
2. Change the percent or amount to change the quantity of line items on the invoice
