• Recovering lost transactions by using a copy of the company file with your current transaction log file 

• Recovering all data, including the copy of the company file and transaction log file for the last few hours

Follow the steps in the shown order to resolve the data recovery complications:

1. Create a folder on the desktop and name it QBTest.

2. Now open the folder where you have saved the company file.

NOTE: you can use the product information screen to check where your company file is located.
       
3. In the company file’s folder, search for .tlg file of company file name.

If you are facing trouble finding the file extension, you can follow these 

a. Press windows +E on your keyboard , this will open the file explorer

b. Click  organize and choose the folder and search options.
                        
For users using windows 10,8 & 8.1 – Click View and select file name extension .

c. Click on hide extensions for known file type and select Apply then OK.

(This will help you find the.tlg file easily)

4. Once you find the .tlg file of your company file name, copy and paste it to the QBTest folder you created on the desktop.

5. Now open the QuickBooks auto data recovery folder which is located at the same location where your company file is located.

6. You need to look for the .QBW.adr file then copy and paste it to the same QBTest folder on the desktop.

7. Once you see both the files (.QBW.adr and .tlg file ) in the same QBTest folder , Right click on the  .QBW.adr file and select rename .

8. You have to delete .adr at the end of the file.

9. Launch QuickBooks

10. From the QBTest folder open the company file , and verify all the transactions there using your account register .

11. Run verify utility to ensure the data integrity of the recovered file .

12. Once the company file is verified you can move the damaged file to other location and transfer the verified file from QBTest folder to original location.
