How to apply a single rate tax to all taxable items?

• Select Setup Interview from the file menu.

• Now, go to the Sales Tax tab.

• On the Do you collect sales tax? Select the yes radio button.

• Enter the tax rate in a percentage form and the name of tax agency to which you pay your taxes.

• Click on Done.

Setting up and configuring your sales tax rate

Step 1: Specify that you collect sales tax

• Select Preferences from the file menu 

• Select Company.

• Select Sales Tax from the I want to option

• Click on the Collect Sales Tax checkbox.

Step 2: Set up sales tax location

• Click on the Add tax location or Edit tax location button. 

• Enter the tax location namefrom the Tax Location window.

• Click on OK.

Step 3: Add tax codes

• You can set up your tax codes after adding or editing a sales tax location

• Edit tax codes

• Select Add Tax code or Edit tax code within a tax location.

• Enter or make changes in the Tax code (maximum 3-character) and name of tax code. Please Note: You can optionally add a 1-character mark for the tax code mark to identify items that were sold with this tax code.

 You can select any of the following options to specify the tax rates:
Single-tax rate

• For all items at all price ranges use this to collect the same tax rate.

• Select Single-rate taxfrom the Tax Option information and click on Next.

• Enter the sales tax rate in percentage format.

• Click on Finish.

Step 4: Assign tax codes to inventory items

• Assign the tax codes defined in step 3 to collect the correct tax amount on your inventory items

• Select Item list from the Inventory menu

• Choose the item along with which you want to assign a specific tax code.

• Add a new item or choose from the existing item that you want to make taxable and then click on Edit.

• Navigate to the tax field from the basic info section and then choose the appropriate tax code from the drop-down list.

• Click on Save.

Please Note: If you want to assign a tax code to any department list,  

• In Inventory  select Department List 

• Then select Department name and  Edit 

• Now, select the tax code.
